I just realized that I haven’t really commented on this one…
This is the favorite one of all time for me, and this is where I find my inner peace.

At last I finished it without falling asleep~
The quiet and sad music mixed with mimikaki and rain sounds are truly a blessing to my tired soul.

This time the story is pretty straightforward, but unfolds mysteriously.

A girl awakens to find that she was kidnapped by a young boy. Apparently she was ready to die when he found her, and he brought her to a forest. It wasn’t a random forest. She says “Jukai desho?” and mentions a tall mountain. That place is Aokigahara, the forest of suicides, the sea of trees.

She then says that she wanted to do something before dying, and that is a mimikaki (she’s a girl after all~ she says) then she proceeds to do so.
Meanwhile the sound of rain gets quieter and quieter until her voice starts mixing with the suddenly appearing soundtrack, which is truly beautiful.

Later she mentions that she is using a “dokubari” or Poison Needle to do the mimikaki and fools around saying things like “your life is within my hands” and things like that.

She explains that is a memento of some sort. She was hit by a “gyofu” (I didn’t understand that part, but gyofu is a fisherman, I think) and she lost consciousness. She woke up in a boat, with what seemed to be a shinigami in the form of a pale skinned girl.

Later, while she was doing the mimikaki she starts saying “doku doku” (poison poison) instead of “guru guru” wich is bad news for us, the listener. The poison is slowly affecting us and we lost consciousness.

Then we hear a bell… And the sound of a boat. It’s the Shinigami. But, we’re not the ones she’s talking to. She asks if we’ve found something, and after a short, slow paced talk she says “gambattemiru” (I think it’s like “Why don’t you keep trying a little more?”) And the sound stops.

Both of them open their eyes, but this time they are in the boy’s apartment. You say you don’t remember anything about being in a forest, to which she replies “so I am the only who remembers”.

You later find that the boy, you, is an University student who is not studying anymore, and instead goes to work and not so much besides that. She asks about something you mentioned while in the forest. She asks if you have some snacks, and both of you starts eating them. Then something wholesome happens, and you learn that she’s pretty much alone and nobody will search for her.

The night comes and in the dark room you learn about the boy not paying it’s light bills and she says it’s fine, that she doesn’t mind the dark.

    She wanna stay with you.

After being so dead inside and despairing you find the courage to take care of her and say (she repeats it) that tomorrow you’re going to the store to pay the electricity bills.

Both of you then hug each other, awkwardly, while waiting for a new day to come… A new life for both.

This is going straight to my favorites.

I think that what makes this work so good is the subtle way they approach the topic of Death.
She carries around with her a poison needle so she can choose to die anytime she wants. Knowing that she’s the one with the power of choosing when to end her life calms her. You, on the other hand, are dead inside, living aimlessly through life, almost ready to die.

What’s the worst that could happen if you mix those two? Can two, almost dead, youngsters find a reason to live within each other’s arms?

Sometimes I just listen to it to hear the soundtrack. It’s so calming.

Now I understand. She said “養父” Yōfu (Adoptive Father)
So she was bullied, probably in school or the neighborhood and hit by her Adoptive Father… Now I feel even sadder for her 🙁

NullEntrophy I think I figured out why you don’t enjoy the scenario! It’s because it’s in Japanese and you don’t understand that. Don’t bash something you don’t understand. If you don’t mind spoilers or machine translation, you can check the reviews for a good idea. Or go learn Japanese and come back to it in a year! 🙂

^, im actually in the middle of learning japanese, and going back to some old audios I had downloaded a while ago, I realized i could understand a lot more which was super cool!
this audio is really good though, asami yui has to be one of my favorite VA’s

I love how people comment “wow this is the best thing ever 10/10 best audio i have ever heard”. Like nice, but I don’t have the foggiest fuck of what they are saying, and i dont know how the fuck i am suppose to know if these people don’t even include the fking script. All i can do is assume, and from what I’ve gathered, the girl and the listener want to die, and as shit progresses, we find out the girl has some fked up trauma. We get close to her and at the end, i guess they both are still alive evident from the heart still beating. If I’m anywhere near the ballpark, then this really isn’t all that interesting and should serve more as a good relaxing audio more than people praising it as next second coming of jesus.

Just learn Japanese, dude. Only need 3 months to learn N4 for me. Can’t read difficult kanji yet, but at least I can understand most of Japanese voice content. That’s including vtubers stuff too, if you’re into that. A month for N5 also works.

How did you learn, serous question. I am trying to lean but I keep forgetting the words in like 3 min. I understand like 2% of the words they say in these ASMR’s. Just enough to get a grasp of what is going on haha. But I still enjoy hearing these during work and sleep 🙂

I mean, fuck, what do I even say about this one? I knew Landsel and Yui Asami would be a good combination, but fuck me, was I ever not ready for this particular combination.

Of course, I expected this one to be heavy, but this one really hits you in the feelers. The music is gorgeous, the voicework is masterful, particularly after the one hour 30 minute mark (you’ll know what I mean when you get there)

This is, without a doubt, the best ASMR voicework I’ve listened to, point blank. Do yourself a favour and listen to it with the music, and honestly maybe even consider buying it; I know I will.

Take it away, French guy, I’m sure you’ll have some insightful words about this one too.
